[New] Setting Up Add ons & Free gifts on the Mix and Match bundle
This feature allows merchants to configure supplementary products—such as free gifts or discounted add-ons—that are offered to the customer independently of the primary bundle discount. These add-on products are presented to the customer in a dedicated, sequential step after the primary bundle products have been selected.
Enabling the Feature
- Navigate to the specific bundle configuration.
- Open the Build section.
- Select Tools.
- Click on Add ons and gifting.
- Enable the step using the toggle on the right-hand panel.
Configuring the Step Appearance
- Name: Assign a specific label for this step (e.g., "Choose your gift").
- Subtext: Input optional subtext to provide instructions.
- Icon: Modify the visual icon associated with this step.
- Enable the Add on section.
- Title: Assign a title that will display in the add-on area of the customer-facing interface.
Defining Add-On Products and Eligibility
- Product Selection: Manually select which products are eligible to be offered as part of this add-on step.
- Eligibility Rules: Define the criteria the customer must meet within the primary bundle to unlock the add-on offer. The system evaluates the rule based on the state of the primary bundle.
- Rule Basis Option 1: Number of products chosen in the bundle.
- Rule Basis Option 2: Total value of the products chosen in the bundle.
- Discount Configuration: Set the specific discount rate applied to the selected add-on products (e.g., 100% off for a free gift, or a custom percentage/fixed amount off).
- Messaging: Customize the customer-facing messaging directly within this section to reflect the active rules.
- Click Save to apply the configuration.
Configuring Tiered Add-Ons and Selection Rules
The system supports multiple logic tiers for add-on eligibility, allowing merchants to dictate not only the discount, but the precise number of add-on products a customer can select per tier.
- Configure the first tier's eligibility conditions (e.g., 1 item in the primary bundle triggers a 10% add-on discount).
- Configure the Selection Rule within that specific tier By clicking on "Add tier rule" . This dictates the allowed quantity of add-on products the customer can choose. Available operators include:
- Exactly [X]: The customer must select this exact number of add-ons.
- Less than [X]: The customer can select any number of add-ons up to, but not including, this number.
- Duplicate the tier to create additional logic steps.
- Modify the eligibility rule, discount rate, and Selection Rule for the duplicated tier to create escalating rewards (e.g., 3 items in the primary bundle triggers a 100% add-on discount, with a Selection Rule of "Exactly 3").
- Click Save.
System Logic for Tiered Add-ons & Selection Rules:
- IF the customer's primary bundle selection triggers a specific tier, THEN the system applies that tier's unique Selection Rule to the add-on step.
- IF a tier specifies a Selection Rule of "Exactly 1", THEN the system requires the customer to add exactly one add-on product.
- IF the customer's primary bundle triggers a higher tier, THEN the system dynamically overrides the previous tier's Selection Rule and applies the new tier's designated Selection Rule parameters.
Constraints & Edge Cases
- Independent Discounting: Add-on discounts are calculated and applied separately from the main bundle discounts (e.g., a fixed price bundle). The add-on discount rate only applies to the specific products selected within the Add ons and gifting configuration.
- Sequential UI: The customer cannot add the gift or add-on to their cart from the primary bundle screen. They must satisfy the bundle requirements and click to the "next step" before the system presents the add-on products for selection.
- Overlapping Tiers: Ensure tier conditions do not conflict. The system relies on precise quantity or value thresholds to trigger the correct add-on discount.
