[New] Enable Subscription in mix and match bundles

This article details the process and logic for enabling a subscription widget within an Easy Bundles mix and match bundle. The Easy Bundles app integrates with all subscription apps available on the Shopify App Store, allowing merchants to sell bundles as recurring subscriptions.

Prerequisites & Backend Syncing

1. A Bundle Builder must already be created within the Easy Bundles app.
2. A third-party subscription app must be installed on the store.
3. IF the subscription plan was created in the subscription app after the bundle was built in Easy Bundles, THEN the merchant must sync their collections and update the products in the bundle. This backend action fetches the latest settings and applies the newly created subscription plan to the products.

Enabling the Subscription Widget

1. Click Edit on the target bundle.
2. Navigate to the Build section.
3. Open Growth tools, and click on Subscriptions.
4. The system will display three options. Select Bundle subscription.
5. The system will prompt a fetch request for the subscription plan.
6. IF all products within the bundle share a common subscription plan, THEN the system will display a list of matching subscription plans to choose from.
7. Select the desired plan and click Save selection. The preview will update to show the subscription plan is active.

Widget Configuration & Settings

• Custom Text: The display text for the subscription plan can be modified directly in the Subscriptions settings section.
• One-Time Purchase Logic: IF the merchant requires the bundle to be exclusively sold as a subscription, THEN they can toggle the option to disable one-time purchases.
• Discount Application Logic: The system allows the merchant to specify exactly when the bundle discount applies. The logic can be set to trigger the discount for:
• • The first purchase only.
  • The subscription purchases only.
  • Both the first purchase and every recurring order in the subscription lifecycle.

Constraints & Edge Cases

• Mutual Plan Requirement Constraint: ALL products included in the bundle builder MUST be part of the exact same subscription plan (including matching frequencies) within the third-party subscription app. IF products have conflicting plans or missing plans, THEN the system will not present the option to choose a matching subscription plan during the fetch step.
• Template Compatibility: The subscription widget is compatible with both Product Page templates and Full Page templates. To preview how the widget renders on these different layouts, the merchant must change the template view using the Template Editor inside the bundle editing screen.
