[New] Setting up a Quantity Break Bundle
The Quantity Breaks feature in the Easy Bundles app allows merchants to create tiered discount structures based on item quantity. This system enables the configuration of specific discount percentages or flat amounts per tier, the inclusion of free gifts and discounted add-ons, and integration with subscription selling plans. The backend logic relies on explicit conditions governing product variant targeting, discount stacking rules, and global versus widget-specific design controls.
Initial Setup and Template Selection
To initiate the process, the user must click Create bundle and select Create quantity breaks. The system presents four base templates, and the logic dictates template selection based on product variant structures.
Template | Product Requirement | Backend Mechanism |
|---|---|---|
First & Second | Products with multiple variants | Selects item-level variants directly. |
Third & Fourth | Products with no variants | Selects a common variant from the theme's variant picker. |
Product Targeting
The app requires defining where the quantity breaks offer displays.
- IF the user selects Specific products, THEN a live preview generates automatically.
- The live preview product can be changed at any time from the top navigation bar.
- Available targeting options include: All products, All products except some, Specific products, and Specific collections.
Configuring Discount Tiers
By default, the system provisions three tiers (Buy one, Buy two, Buy three). Users must configure explicit rules for each tier.
Tier Setting | Available Logic & Functionality |
|---|---|
Discount Type | Choose between Percentage off or Amount off. |
Threshold & Value | Set the required Quantity and apply the corresponding discount value. |
Text & Badges | Define Title, Subtitle, and Badge (multiple styles available). |
Pill Text | Enter promotional text (e.g., "save ten percent"). IF dynamic variable values are used, THEN the system dynamically injects real-time data into the field. |
Imagery & Defaults | Upload a thumbnail image. Select one tier to be the default selected tier on page load. |
Configuring Free Gifts and Add-ons
Within each tier, the system allows the addition of supplementary products based on the tier's threshold.
- Free Gifts:
- IF a customer selects a tier with a free gift, THEN the system adds the selected product at zero cost.
- Users must set the gift quantity and label text. IF no custom label text is entered, THEN the system uses the default product name.
- Add-ons:
- IF a customer selects a tier with an add-on, THEN they gain the option to purchase another product at a defined discount.
- Users must select the add-on product, define the quantity, apply a discount (Percentage or Specific amount), and input label text. Add-ons can be toggled to be selected by default.
Subscription Integration
The system allows enabling subscriptions for the quantity breaks offer.
Subscription Setting | Available Logic & Functionality |
|---|---|
Layout & Placement | Choose from three widget layouts. Place the widget below or on top of the quantity tiers. |
Price Display | Show the discounted subscription price on the quantity tiers OR the subscription tiers. |
Highlights (Perks) | Input perks (e.g., free shipping). Choose alignment: Stacked or In line. Select an Icon type. |
Default Selection | The subscription tier can be set as the default loaded option. |
Variant Display Settings
IF the target product has multiple variants, THEN the user must configure the Variants section.
- Display Logic: Instead of standard drop-downs, colors can display as a Swatch, sizes can display as Labels, or all options can combine into a Master drop-down.
- Configuration Toggles:
- Require customers to pick variants for each individual item.
- Hide the theme variant picker.
- Show option name on all options or combine them.
- Set alignment and toggle divider lines.
- Toggle variant thumbnail images and index numbers.
Elements, Content, and Multi-Language Logic
- Elements (Design Tab): Users can toggle the display of the per-item price within each tier.
- Contents and labels: Standard text strings can be modified.
- IF the store requires multiple languages, THEN the user selects a language from the dropdown and inputs the translated text for that specific language block.
Styling and Branding Logic
The system enforces strict inheritance logic for styling.
- Branding Section: IF styling is updated in the primary Branding section, THEN these changes apply globally to all bundle types (Quantity Breaks, Mix and Match, Product Bundles).
- Design Control Panel: IF granular, widget-specific styling is required, THEN the user must save changes and redirect to the Design Control Panel. This isolated environment allows styling of fonts, colors, sizes, backgrounds, border color, border radius, variant swatches, labels, dropdowns, and custom CSS/JS specifically for the quantity breaks widget.
System Settings & Discount Stacking
The Settings tab governs price calculations and discount logic.
Setting Category | Available Logic & Functionality |
|---|---|
Price Calculations | Toggle fetching the Compare at price directly from Shopify. Enable Price rounding. |
Discount Application | IF enabled, THEN discounts are added only through the widget and do not update strictly on the cart level. |
Quantity Combining | IF the offer applies to multiple products, THEN quantities can combine to trigger the discount threshold. |
Free Gift Settings | Toggle the display of the original price of the free gift. |
Discount Stacking | Define combination rules to stack the quantity break discount with Order discounts, Other product discounts, Shipping discounts, or Subscription discounts. |
Publishing Logic
By default, newly created quantity break offers are placed in Test mode.
- IF the offer is in Test mode, THEN only the store administrator can view and interact with the widget on the storefront.
- IF the user clicks Go Live, THEN the bundle executes on the live storefront and customers can process discounted orders.
Constraints & Edge Cases
- Subscription Selling Plan Constraint: IF subscriptions are enabled on a product with multiple variants, THEN only the shared selling plans that apply to all variants will populate in the subscription dropdown.
- Shopify Plus Stacking Constraint: The setting to stack two separate product discounts on the same line item is strictly restricted. IF the store is not on Shopify Plus, THEN this specific stacking feature is disabled or unavailable.
- Styling Inheritance Constraint: Users cannot use the standard Branding tab to make changes exclusive to the Quantity Breaks widget. They must explicitly navigate to the Design Control Panel to prevent altering other active bundles on the store.
