# Product Quantity Rule in Mix & Match Bundle

# Product Quantity Rules for Mix and Match Bundles

## Overview
Product Quantity Rules define the technical conditions customers must satisfy when selecting products within a Mix and Match bundle step. The rule engine dynamically restricts step progression or item selection based on either **Cart Quantity** (total count of selected items) or **Cart Amount** (total monetary value of selected items).

## Core Logic & Functionality

### 1. Rule Types & Hierarchy Scope
Quantity rules operate at two distinct structural tiers within the bundle flow.
* **Step Rules:** Applied universally across all products contained within a specific step.
* **Category Rules:** Applied selectively to products grouped within a specific category inside a step.

### 2. Operators & Conditions
When setting up either a Step Rule or a Category Rule, you can select from three exact comparison operators:
* **is greater than or equal to:** Customer must meet or exceed the designated threshold to move to the next step.
* **is less than or equal to:** Customer cannot exceed the designated threshold. Adding items beyond the limit is blocked.
* **is equal to:** Customer must select the exact target quantity or amount. Under-selection blocks step advancement; over-selection blocks item addition.
*Note: Steps can also be configured with **No Rules**, allowing unrestricted selection.*

## Configuration Steps

1. **Open Bundle Configuration:**Bundle List.
Navigate to your list of Mix and Match bundles, locate the required bundle, and click the **Edit** (pencil icon) button.

2. **Navigate to Rules Section:**Bundle Setup.
Inside the **Bundle Setup** interface, select the **Config** tab and locate the **Rules** panel.

3. **Define Rule Parameters:**Config Tab.
Choose between a Step Rule or Category Rule:

* Select the rule condition base: **Cart Quantity** or **Cart Amount**.

* Select the operator: `is less than or equal to`, `is greater than or equal to`, or `is equal to`.

* Enter the numerical target value (e.g., `2`).

4. **Save Configuration:**Admin Panel.
Save your settings. Verify the rule behavior using the preview interface to confirm that error prompts trigger under correct conditions.

## Constraints & System Validation

Mutually Exclusive Rule Scope
Step Rules and Category Rules are **mutually exclusive** within the same step. IF a Step Rule is active, THEN Category Rules cannot be applied to that step, and vice versa.

### System Validation & Error Handling Logic

* **Trigger Point:** The system evaluates minimum boundaries (`is greater than or equal to` or the lower limit of `is equal to`) when the customer attempts to click **Next Step** (or proceed to checkout/add to cart). Maximum boundaries (`is less than or equal to` or the upper limit of `is equal to`) are evaluated instantly upon item selection.
* **Scenario A: Below Minimum Requirement**
    * **IF** the rule requires `Cart Quantity is equal to 2` (or `greater than or equal to 2`),
    * **AND** the customer has selected `1` item and clicks **Next Step**,
    * **THEN** step navigation is blocked, and an error prompt displays indicating that at least `1` more product must be added.
* **Scenario B: Exceeding Maximum Limit**
    * **IF** the rule requires `Cart Quantity is equal to 2` (or `less than or equal to 2`),
    * **AND** the customer currently has `2` items selected and attempts to click/add a 3rd item,
    * **THEN** the addition action is immediately blocked, and an inline prompt displays stating that only `2` products are permitted in this step.
